SOUTH BEND — Howard Park Event Center, 201 S. St. Louis Blvd., offers the following exercise classes:

• Pound Fitness, 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday through Sept. 25. Looking for a way to exercise that doesn’t feel like exercise? This class consists of drumming, cardio, and strength training. Open for all.

• Chair Yoga, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Monday through Oct. 2. Chair yoga is practiced while sitting on a chair and is designed for those with physical disabilities or those who find a typical yoga session too challenging.

SOUTH BEND — Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will offer the free class in the Care Partner Academy, “Alzheimer’s and Dementia 101” from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 7. Patty Piechocki, director of the Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, will lead this live/interactive web session. Participants can connect through their computer. SOUTH BEND — RiverBend Cancer Services Wellness House, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., will offer the following “Living Well with Cancer” classes. All classes are free and open to cancer patients, survivors, their families, and caregivers; please pre-register for all classes by calling 574-287-4197.

• Seated Strength — 10 a.m. Monday and Wednesday. Strength building class that may utilize light weights and bands while seated or with a chair for support. Class size is limited.

• Fragrant, Fresh Lavender — 1 p.m. Monday.

• Gyna Girls — 4:30 p.m. Monday.

• Gentle Yoga — 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Floor yoga class suitable for all levels of experience. Bring your own mat. Class size is limited.

• Chair Yoga — 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Aug. 10. Modified poses that can be done from a seated position and with a chair for support. Class size is limited.

• Support Squad — 11 a.m. Tuesday.

• Bits & Bites — Noon Tuesday.

• MELT — 1 p.m. Tuesday.

• Kim’s Bra Boutique — 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Free bra and/or prosthesis fitting for women impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis. Reservations required.

• Dominoes — 2 p.m. Wednesday.

• Supper & Support — 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• Yarnwork — 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 10.

• Personal Training — 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10.

• Unity Garden — 3 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10.

SOUTH BEND — Downtown South Bend Inc. will offer free yoga, Zumba and more every Saturday through Aug. 26. The program is held at the Gridiron, 122 S. Michigan St. The drop-in classes are free and open to all ages and skill levels. Participants should dress in appropriate clothing and footwear, bring a mat and adequate fluids, and will be required to sign a waiver for the season. Free parking is available on the street and in the Leighton Parking Garage, enter off Jefferson Blvd. Saturday’s class includes 8 a.m. Yoga; 9 a.m. Zumba; 10 a.m. WERQ. • Mondays: 10 a.m. — Chair fitness with Linda; 11 a.m. — Dancing to the Oldies with CeCe; 2 p.m. — Qigong via DVD, assisted by Marge.

• Tuesdays: 9 a.m. — Osteo fit with Missy; 5:30 p.m. — Powerbeats with Missy. No Osteo fit on Aug. 8.

• Wednesdays: 10:15 a.m. — Chair fitness with CeCe.

• Thursdays: 11 a.m. — Chair yoga with Lisa.

• Fridays: 9 a.m. — Powerbeats with Missy; 10 a.m. — Chair fitness with Lizz.

• Blood Pressure Checks — Always Best Care Senior Services will be at the BASC at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10 and Aug. 24.

• Hearing Aid Checks — Dr. Michelle Ridenour from West Michigan Hearing Specialists, will be at the center from 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 15, to check ears for wax, clean hearing aids, and answer questions. Call the BASC to register.

• Pamper Your Feet — Monthly foot clinic through Blessed Feet, LLC, beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 10. Initial appointment fee is $30; all subsequent appointments will cost $25 (checks payable to Blessed Feet, LLC). Not covered under any insurance. Call the BASC to schedule an appointment.

• Healthier Cooking and Meal Planning with Chef Gwen Mottl — Chef will be showing how to make Mahi Mahi with pineapple salsa, Jicama slaw, and a strawberry kiwi smoothie; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Space is limited, registration required.

SOUTH BEND — The St. Joseph County Public Library will offer “Autism 101” presented by Lighthouse Autism Center from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Francis Branch, 52655 N. Ironwood Road. Information will be given on the signs and characteristics of autism, appropriate interactions, and de-escalation techniques. Participants are invited to ask questions. Support Groups

MISHAWAKA — Michiana Hematology Oncology will hold its next monthly Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at 5340 Holy Cross Parkway. The group is led by Dr. Zon, physician emeritus of MHO. This month’s guest speaker is BJ Wray German, breast cancer coach, presenting “What Breast Cancer Cannot Do to Me.” All are welcome including current patients, family members, and cancer support advocates. NILES — Lory’s Place and the Niles-Buchanan YMCA offers a free, in-person grief support group for adults who have experienced the death of someone significant. This is an open-ended group which means you can attend or leave whenever you choose. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month (Aug. 9) from noon to 1 p.m. at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA, 905 N.
